What is Modaal?

Modaal builds and releases native iOS and Android apps from a single core, generating SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose implementations. It uses a spec-driven workflow that generates a PRD and a per-feature spec for review before code is generated.

Feature logic is authored once and rendered per platform, with parity checks in the build process to detect mismatches. Projects are created as Xcode and Android Studio projects stored in Git on disk and include built-in local simulators for testing.

Integration with GitHub supports pull-request workflows and the platform enables app distribution through users’ Apple accounts. Modaal connects to user-provided LLM services (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) for code generation and includes the open-source Duet framework on GitHub.

Native platform capabilities such as widgets, live activities, watch apps, sensors, background tasks, and wallet are supported from the first build. Specs and implementation notes are stored in the project to keep planning and code aligned across features.
