What is Label Studio?
Label Studio is an open‑source data labeling platform that supports images, audio, text, video, time‑series, and PDF documents. It offers fully customizable annotation interfaces, pre‑labeling with machine‑learning models, and a template builder that can be extended using XML or React.
Users can import data from local storage, S3, or GCP and export annotations to JSON, CSV, or a database. The platform exposes an API and a Python SDK for project creation, task management, and integration into ML pipelines. Built‑in annotation types cover image classification, object detection, semantic segmentation, audio transcription, speaker diarization, document classification, entity extraction, and time‑series event detection.
Workflow features include advanced data filters, multi‑project support, and quality‑gate mechanisms for labeling consistency. These capabilities enable data scientists, ML engineers, and annotation teams to prepare supervised training data and evaluate AI models.
