Open NovelAI and have it ready before you start
Open NovelAI and click the Image Generator banner from the main dashboard.
Enter your prompt using tag format, starting with key subjects (e.g., '1girl, school uniform, from side, messy hair, brown hair, green eyes'). Separate tags with commas and a space.
Wrap tags you want emphasized in curly brackets {} (e.g., {messy hair}) and tags you want softened in square brackets [] to control their impact.
Add any elements you wish to avoid to the Undesired Content field (e.g., 'petals') so the AI will omit them from the image.
Choose the desired aspect ratio and image size, then press Generate to create the illustration.
To explore variations, click the seed icon to lock the seed, tweak tags or strengths, and generate again without altering the overall composition.
Review the results in the History panel; use the delete icon to remove any images you don’t want to keep.
Click Download on the chosen image, or Download ZIP to save all generated images at once.
