By following this playbook you will turn raw footage, audio, and images into a professional‑looking YouTube video that includes smooth cuts, animated transitions, synced background music, color‑corrected visuals, and auto‑generated captions ready for publishing.
The Workflow
10 steps · click a step number to mark it done
Open Capcut and have it ready before you start
Open CapCut, click Create Project, choose the appropriate aspect ratio (e.g., 16:9) and name your project
Import your raw video clips, photos, and audio files by clicking Import in the Media panel and selecting the files
Drag the imported clips onto the timeline in the order you want them to appear
Trim and split clips: move the playhead to the edit point, press Command + B to split, then drag clip edges or use Q/W keys to delete unwanted sections
Add transitions: open the Transitions panel, hover to preview styles, drag a chosen transition between two clips, and adjust its duration in the Inspector
Create zoom‑in/out animations: select a clip, go to Transform, click Add Keyframe at the start, set scale/position, move the playhead forward, add another keyframe with the desired zoom, and let CapCut animate between them
Adjust clip speed for slow‑motion or timelapse: select a clip, open Speed, set a new speed factor, enable Smooth Slow Motion and choose Optical Flow for higher quality
Apply basic color correction: with a clip selected, open Adjust, tweak Exposure, Saturation, and Temperature; optionally drag a filter onto the clip or a dedicated filter layer
Insert background music: go to Audio, browse the stock library or your own track, drag it onto a music track below the footage, enable Beat Detection, and align cuts to the beats
Generate auto captions: import a voice‑over or ensure spoken audio is present, click Auto Captions, let CapCut transcribe, edit any errors, style the text, then export the final video
